Our son Nicholas had a life-saving stem cell transplant thanks to early detection of ALD, umbilical cord blood donation, and the amazing team at the University of Minnesota Children's Hospital. Run for ALD, Cure the Boys 5K run and 1 mile walk is our homegrown event and the only one of its kind in Missouri. Through this event and other opportunities, we raise awareness of ALD, share the hope of Nicholas's success story, and raise funds to support life-saving research at the University of Minnesota, one of the largest transplant centers in the world and a leader in ALD Research.
The University of Minnesota Leukodystrophy Center is working to identify the cause and predictors of active cerebral ALD in order to better diagnose and improve treatment for boys fighting adrenoleukodystrophy in the hopes of one day finding a cure.
